Door Styles
Covered Bridge door styles are available in any of their North American hardwood species. Many can be customized further by changing the stile & rail width and the edge profile. The finish shown is one example. Any style can be built in another wood and color.

Wood Species
Doors, drawer fronts and face frames are made from North American hardwood. Each species takes stain differently, so the same color reads differently on cherry than it does on white oak.
AlderA medium-density hardwood with a fine, even grain. Small pin knots are characteristic and take stain evenly.
- Cherry
A multicolored hardwood that may carry small knots and pin holes. Darkens naturally with age and makes a statement stained.
- Walnut
An elegant multicolored hardwood with rich variation, occasionally showing small knots and pin holes.
- Maple
A strong, close-grained wood, predominantly off-white with occasional tan or mineral streaks.
- Poplar
Medium density with a fine grain. Sapwood ranges from white and creamy yellow through to green, so it is usually painted.
- Red Oak
An open-grained hardwood ranging from white to pink tones, with pin knots typical of the species.
- Hickory
Open-grained with dramatic white, yellow and brown tones. Contains pin knots and strong color variation.
- White Oak
Open-grained, whitish-brown through grayish-brown, with pin knots common. The basis for the rift and quarter sawn cuts.
- Rift Sawn White Oak
White oak cut midway between plain sawn and quarter sawn, giving a tight, straight grain. Heartwood runs light to medium brown, sometimes with an olive cast.
- Quarter Sawn White Oak
White oak cut to expose the medullary rays, producing the distinctive flake figure associated with craftsman cabinetry.

Grade decides how much of the wood you actually see. From budget-friendly options made for enamel, through to select grade for natural finishes, each one gives the cabinetry a different character.

The premium grade: the fewest imperfections, with carefully selected, color-matched staves.

Covered Bridge offers a selection of premium enamel finishes, each chosen by their design team around current and upcoming design trends. And if none of them is the color you have in mind, they color-match with X-Rite technology. Bring a paint sample from any manufacturer to our Green Brook showroom and they will build you a sample door for approval before anything else is made.
